Performance matters.

What really matters to you when you train in the gym?

I've been training at Performance Fitness Gym ltd in Eastbourne for nearly 6 months. I train 6 days a week, so i'm there a lot. Thought i'd write my honest thoughts about the place.

Before i moved to Performance fitness i was paying a very high membership to another local gym.

I didn't want to join another expensive corporate gym or racket centre.

I popped into train with a friend one afternoon to have a look around. A quick Par Q form to fill out then out on the floor. The straight talking owner, Scott Halliday let me train for free that day. Always a nice surprise.

First thing i noticed about the gym was the all the bright signage. A huge support of other local enterprise and tradesmen. All the equipment you could possibly imagine and enough weights to sink a ship.

I asked about membership at the end of the workout and was told the simple options of joining. No obligations. I left feeling good. A couple months went past, not one annoying text message or email  from them  (always a good sign) and i decided to go back and train again. I went for £35 a month deal (very very reasonable)  Again the gym was kept to a very high standard, very clean and very organised. It seems all the members have a huge respect for this local gym that opened in 2012. Everybody puts their weights away, tidies up and moves on to the next exercise. Trust me when i say I've been to gyms which you have to climb over equipment to get to the next.

So i decided that this family run gym would be my next training temple. The owners mum, Debbie is a lovely lady who opens up every morning at 6. Jo and Scott are always on hand for really solid advice. What better advise comes from this power couple. A British and world record holding couple at that. All the staff and trainers are very welcoming as well.

As all gyms Monday at 5pm, after work is a busy time. But you can still find a machine or a bench to work at. The gym boosts x2 mono lift squat rack, x3 competition grade benches and 2 deadlift platforms.

The age range at this gym is young to old. The lady who runs on the treadmill next to me in the morning is 60 something and loves the place. A lot of ladies train in the gym showing they work just as hard as the guys at their fitness. Obviously there is powerlifters and body builders with the majority of them being really nice local guys. Plenty of classes  all of the mums and afterwork office workers are in and out in a sweat.

Music choice is always a BIG thing for me in a fitness environment if i forget my headphones. Goes to say they play could tunes in Performance Fitness. House to hip hop to rock.

The shower at this gym is more powerful than the shower i have at home. The changing rooms are always clean and never smell.

The reception is always buzzing. There is always people chatting, eating or looking to buy PFG branded clothing. With a massive range of supplements and cold drink. Your can always fuel your workouts easily.

Private parking is always easy with an over spill into the industrial side road. The whole time i have been there morning or night i can find a space.

So you want to train at a local community gym. You wouldn't be making a mistake joining here for a while. Gym of the year 2016 in Eastbourne last year.

I liked it so much, i completed my personal training and i now coach here privately. Go check it out at:
